England, UK, Britain, etc
Lot of people have confusion about these terms. Himanshu had shared this nice video explaining the niceties. Here's the link.Here are my few additions related to sports.
1. Football- England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland play as separate countries (also called Home Nations)
2. Cricket- England cricket team is actually England and W...ales cricket team, while Ireland team is actually Nothern Ireland and Republic of Ireland cricket team. So in British Isles there are 3 cricket teams- England, Ireland and Scotland
3. Olympics- There are 2 teams Team Great Britain and Team Ireland. Team GB is made up of Great Britain island and Ireland made up of Republic of Ireland. People of Northern Ireland may chose either of the team
4. Rugby- 4 teams from British Isles- England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland
